I’m running for City Council with a clear focus on smarter fiscal management, safer and stronger neighbourhoods, efficient and affordable city services, and a more open and accountable City Hall.
Over the course of the campaign, I’ll be releasing detailed proposals under each of these priorities, with practical plans for how to get them done.
Fair Transportation to School for Windsor High School Students
High school students who live more than 3.2 km from their home school in communities like LaSalle, Amherstburg, Kingsville, and Essex receive school-board-supported transportation.
Cross the border into Windsor, and students living the same distance from school receive no transportation support at all.
I’m proposing that our school boards and the City work together on a model already being used elsewhere in Ontario: school-board-funded Transit Windsor passes for eligible students, with reasonable transit service to get them to and from school.
Stronger Support for Homeowners Facing Basement Sewer Backups
What happens when homeowners have already installed the recommended flood protection measures and still experience a sewer backup? I’m proposing two practical changes to give homeowners better support while Windsor continues building the Sewer Master Plan.
About Darcie
Darcie Renaud has spent her career helping public organizations become more effective, efficient, accountable, and responsive to the people they serve.
Darcie began her career working for the late MPP Bruce Crozier. There, she helped residents navigate government and get action on issues ranging from health care to education. Having worked in both government and opposition, she developed a strong understanding of how government works, how decisions are made, and how to build productive relationships to achieve results.
Today, Darcie serves as the Data and Performance Lead supporting both the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) and the Windsor-Essex Ontario Health Team (WEOHT), where her work focuses on data strategy and performance measurement to support better decision-making across the local health system.
Since her previous campaigns for Council, Darcie has remained actively engaged in municipal issues and is already putting her experience to work on issues that matter to Windsor residents. She has advocated for smarter fiscal management and greater accountability, helped residents better understand the City’s budget, and worked with community partners to improve services and find practical solutions, including championing more affordable and reliable public transit for high school students.
In 2010, Darcie married her high school sweetheart, Shane. Five years later, while seven months pregnant with their second child, Shane was killed in a tragic workplace accident. That experience profoundly shaped her life and continues to shape her approach to public service, with empathy, determination and purpose.
Darcie is the Vice-Chair of the board of Julien's House, a local charitable organization that supports individuals and families who are anticipating or grieving the death of a loved one.
She holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Windsor, a bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Toronto, and completed graduate studies in evaluation, performance measurement, and municipal performance management through the University of Victoria.
Darcie lives in Ward 1 with her children, Henry and Hazel. Whether through her professional career, volunteer leadership, or community advocacy, she believes public service is about listening, asking thoughtful questions, and doing the work to earn people's trust.
